  • This was an interesting read, thank you for taking the time to write it up. It is so helpful to see so much of my experience in someone else's, it makes me feel much less alone. ❤️

A person in a fawn response state might find themselves laughing at a racist joke, agreeing with a reprehensible opinion, or a violation of their bodily autonomy, in contradiction to their own values, because they are instinctively trying to avoid coming into conflict with another person by being assertive and maintaining boundaries

    😞 it me

Combine that with the autism making it so I genuinely didn't even know how to advocate for myself, and church and family saying I shouldn't because I should serve everyone and turn the other cheek, and it explains a lot about my life.

there's a discussion to be had about whether autistic people pleasing/fawning is itself a direct response to social rejection and trauma due to socialising, but that's something for a different post.

I'm very much looking forward to this one!

  • omg omg omg 😂 I just saw a regular pickup truck with crazy camber and a squat thing going on yesterday, that would be sooooo fucking funny on cybertruck

now I desperately want to see one with itty bitty tiny tires, super close to the ground, like that fad in the early 00s

scraping the ground every time they drive on a brick street or hit a pothole 😂

please baby jesus, if we can't have communism, at least give us a cybertruck lowering & stancing fad

  • This is the second recent time Biden has mentioned potential future vacancies on the courts. He told a campaign rally last month that he would name “progressive judges” to fill vacancies. “The next president -- they’re going to be able to appoint a couple of justices,” Biden said in Philadelphia at the launch of an effort to court Black voters.

“Look: if, in fact, we’re able to change some of the justices when they retire and put in really progressive judges like we’ve always had, tell me that won’t change your life when Trump justices are already gutting voting rights, overturning Roe, decimating affirmative action, and so much more,” he said that event.

IF ONLY THERE WERE SOMETHING THE PRESIDENT COULD DO

    nope, just judges

    Anyway

    vote

(but not for the judges who will make these decisions, just the guy who might get to decide which judges get to decide)

  • You might be interested in this interview with Dr Miyabe Shields about cannabis and ADHD and autism. I mentioned it in a thread on /c/neurodiverse last week, but I'm starting to feel like it needs it's own post because it keeps coming up.

One of my big takeaways was that she truly believes that most daily users of cannabis are self-medicating neurodivergents trying to survive in a neurotypical word.

Video description: Dr. Miyabe Shields has a PhD in endocannabinoid pharmsci and is co-creator of 'Network of Applied Pharmacognosy' with Dr. Riley Kirk, a non-profit contributing to education and destigmatising of emerging medicinal natural products. Miyabe is also a thriving queer and neurodivergent Instagram personality with over 40K followers, which is often used to promote 'Project Chronic' from 'Dose Like A Scientist', a community-based educational platform for neurodivergents providing a network, teaching them about pharmacology and advocacy.
