  • What we see now are the ancient roots. Before the continental colision, there was a sea and subduction zone. This gave us sandstones, diorite, and granite... All of which were crushed at incredible pressure and temperature by the continental collision. At the deep roots of the mountains, this transformed the rock into gneiss, marble, and other extremely hard rock. Additionally, the forces were so great that the very bottom melted and became fresh granite.

All of these stones are very hard and resistant to erosion, and are what we see todayas the Appalachians

  • In the most mainstream, I think that both Ari Aster and Jordan Peele are challenging the ruts the genre has gotten itself in to. Midsommar effected me for days.

A while back, I ran across Hagazussa. Its a difficult watch (content warning for extreme sexual violence and infanticide), but it also has that quality of reality unbound. Its slow, atmospheric, and terrible.

  • The ruling cliques of "the west" have a vested interest in the preservation of the current Isreali state. It is a friendly and permanently embattled nation that serves to destabilize the entier region, making foriegn influence easier and keeping arms trade high.

As such, while Palestinian liberation may be supported by people, it will never be meaningfully acknowledged by governments. Palestinian opression is ignored until it results in violence. Then the response, framed by the media, is to "both sides" the problem, finally culminating in a brokered peace in which Palestinians but not the goverment of Isreal disarm in exchange for nebulous promises.

As for solidarity with Palestine, beyond words and some small material support, we in "the west" run in to the same problem as with most other issues: institutions are set up to funnel power away from the people to a small group of influential individuals, and what few parallal power structures we have built are not strong enough to challenge them yet.

for most of the applications in recreational motorcycling, electric motorcycles aren't really good yet. The rande limitation is too severe.

For commuter use, however, electric motorcycles and scooters outshine gasoline vehicles in many ways. In warmer climates, particularly south and southeast asia, motorcycle and scooters are viable year round commuting tools, and are seeing a shift towards cheap electric models
