  • It's slightly less dark than the dark places we expected it to go.

It makes me think of kid-show and video game shennanigans that are used to substitute for sexual assault or harm to children. This is the version grandpa tells to his kids about what happened in his childhood small town.

  • My experience is that when someone discovered they need certain civil rights but don't have them, often staring down thr barrels of police service pistols, then yes, they give all the flying fucks in the universe about being supported.

This is one of those reasons that Leopards Ate My Face is a known trope and community. Sadly, the ones who empathize already have their share of leopard teeth marked scars.

Given I and many people I know are not going to survive genocide in the US, if ever it goes full post-Wannsee, I have little patience for anyone who does not stand at least against the transnational white power movement (aka the white Christian nationalist movement). That includes even conservatives who wish the GOP would less extreme like in the Nixon and Reagan years. That train was always going to inevitably lead to the political crisis in the US, today.

  • So far AFAIK we have two kinds of infinity: Those that can be accommodated at the Grand Hilbert (e.g. integers, fractions, etc.) and those that cannot (set of irrational numbers, set of curves, set of polytopes, etc.) This was why we had to differentiate orders of infinity, e.g. ℵ₀ (The Grand Hilbert set), ℵ₁ (the irrational set, the real set), ℵ₂ (???), ℵ₃ (?????), ℵₙ (??!??????????)

For values of infinity that are in higher orders than ℵ₀, we can only tell if they're equal to ℵ₁ or undetermined, which means their infinity size is ℵ₁ or greater, but still unknown.

Unless someone did some Nobel prize worthy work in mathematics that I haven't heard about which is quite possible.

  • We have sorta the same problem with imaginary numbers, and I remember some programmable calculators can process complex numbers using symbolic representation (which happens to work similarly to Cartesian coordinates, so that's convenient)

But from what I remember any infinity bigger than counting numbers (say the set of real numbers) cannot be differentiated from each other, so we don't have established rules.

To be fair, I last tinkered with infinities in the aughts and then as a hobbyist. The Grand Hilbert Hotel can accomodate more compound infinities and still retain perfect utilization since the last time I visited.

  • This is actually more the style of jinn and efreet bottled by Solomon. The three wishes stuff was more common with fairy magic (and spoiler, the wish maker would foul it up and get stuck with the consequences.)

With a djinn, it was more yeah, I'll do magic stuff for you until I get bored, and if you're very lucky, and don't piss me off too much, I just might let you live.

Think of a mafia don who owes you a favor and doesn't like the obligation hovering over him. And yet, if you ask for too much, he may just disappear you instead.

  • In Star Wars Battlegrounds, a B+ reskin of Age of Empire 2 for Star Wars (offical, not great, not terrible) I would enjoy playing the Gungans, partially because the Art Deco buildings are colorful and pretty.

But also because then my opponent would have the additional humility of having been beaten by Gungans.
