Theory tells us that the working class isn't going to liberate itself unless conditions are dire enough (even then it isn't guaranteed). Boomers (generally) have too much to lose. Even your average worker is not motivated enough to engage with revolutionary action from within the imperial core. This could change in the future, and there may be alternatives, but when it comes to people being ignorant, I'm no longer surprised at all.
Edit: it does go to say that the shift is beginning, clearly shown by the ongoing protests/unrest in response to police and racial violence. Unfortunately American culture in particular has a real "anti-authoritarian" streak that is a real mountain to overcome. It's going to be necessary to have a real organized movement, and some unpleasant stuff may need to happen to bring about real change. It's not completely necessary for all workers or activists to be a part of it imo, but it needs to exist or nothing will happen at all.
