Like what, besides literally just the most basic "I like gay" shit is in this case "allowed" at pride because of being "integral" to your sexuality/gender? I deadass just dont understand the logic, if it exists.

Like why is leather "allowed" at pride then, is being a biker integral to your sexuality?(I obviously know the cultural history for leathers association with queer culture, but kink has similar history and associations so this isnt a valid differentiation).

Just boggles me real hard, I know its probably just a bad faith argument but I still wanna find out what the actual possible reasoning is.

I mean I can call it whatever culture is most comfortable, theres parts of gay/homosexual culture and history which involves kink and other expression outside the "pure" expression of just "I simply like men", even extremely simple and inoffensive shit like certain leather outfits is a cultural signifier of being gay to some extent. Like unless you wanna celebrate and express your sexuality in public by literally performing it through kissing or something you need cultural signifiers and denying kink as one just because its not "Integral" doesnt hold up to me.

But you're probably right that this line of argumentation specifically probably belongs to older people, I saw one using it who also complained about "Zoomers with pronouns in their bio"
