Like what, besides literally just the most basic "I like gay" shit is in this case "allowed" at pride because of being "integral" to your sexuality/gender? I deadass just dont understand the logic, if it exists.

Like why is leather "allowed" at pride then, is being a biker integral to your sexuality?(I obviously know the cultural history for leathers association with queer culture, but kink has similar history and associations so this isnt a valid differentiation).

Just boggles me real hard, I know its probably just a bad faith argument but I still wanna find out what the actual possible reasoning is.

By way of analogy, though, it's now a standardized mass public celebration with state-sponsored committees who oversee it for funding, corporate sponsorships, internal community debates and the ability to platform sex abusers, ignore accusations and prefer not to cause trouble; just like straight people can. We now have access to the Oscars, made-for-television Hallmark films, commercials, wellness gurus, scam artists, social media influencers, our own body dysmorphias, slogans that were always easily cooptable by corporations to make statements not worth the server space they are stored on. In my lifetime, I believe a lesbian shall one day be elected to deport climate migrants back to their desiccated hellholes.

We have achieved equality; perhaps not progress.

Also, no pony-play masks/leashes, and assless chaps are a hard maybe. Leather/rickshaws/whips, alright, because I can pretend they're wearing it solely to look cool (and they do). Some weirdness is expected at any public celebration, but too overtly and it's like bringing your dakimakura; you may say it's about the confidence to bare yourself freely, but we all know what you do with it at home.
