Like, it's not even close. The 1977 cartoon is crisp, has beautiful artwork, and more closely matches the spirit of the books. Jackson's Hobbit trilogy meanwhile is a bloated mess. I was so bored and uninterested I couldn't even finish the third movie.
I don't think I can ever forget about that shamelessly corny part where legolas (who shouldn't even be in the main story) runs up falling debris like a wuxia movie

I'm not even sure if that was the third movie, I was pretty high. But I'll never forget it.
Also the garbage CGI with smaug. The dragon looked cool but nothing else about that seen did. The molten gold? Wtf
