It's Immanuel Kant, I recognize it from one of my shitty books. Unclear on how exactly he's related to "the left", but I'm also unclear on what the fuck these clowns think the left is.
*EDIT I thought the person i was replying to said "center" and I didn't see the "-left" part, Kant is in the center and FDR is the guy on the center-left.
Hegel expounded on a lot of Kant's work, and Marx and Engels expounded on Hegel expounding on Kant and then Lenin had something to say about it too and suddenly Kant is a communist
My favorite Kant story is where he's talking to a priest about how much women suck and are bad, and a black dude working on a nearby roof is like "See? You fucked up when you gave those broads any rights. If you guys hadn't fucked up and given them any rights, they wouldn't be able to do all this shit that pisses you guys off." Kant responded by pointing out that the black guy was black, and therefore everything he said had to be "quite stupid".
EDIT I'm pretty sure Kant was the one who said asian people were incapable of morality as well, but i could be wrong, it's been years.
