As a direct result of action taken by BDS Japan Bulletin (BJB), the group confirmed that Shimokitazawa, a branch of Ozeki, a famous supermarket chain in Tokyo, decided to stop selling wine manufacture
The Government of Japan expresses its serious concern about the latest developments surrounding Israel and Palestine, including clashes and violence in East Jerusalem causing a number of injuries as well as firing of rockets from Gaza.
Acts of violence, including the firing of rockets from Gaza and the clashes in East Jerusalem, cannot be justified for any reason. It has to be said that the current situation goes against the efforts by the international community to seek for a two-state solution whereby the state of Israel and a future independent state of Palestine live side by side in peace and security, and the Government of Japan strongly condemns such acts of violence. The Government of Japan strongly urges all parties concerned to exert maximum self-restraint avoiding any unilateral action, to avert further escalation of the situation, and to restore the calm.
In this regard, it must be pointed out that the potential ruling of Palestinian families’ evictions from their homes in East Jerusalem, including Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, could exacerbate the situation. The Government of Israel’s approval to construct 540 units in East Jerusalem is nothing but the continuation of the settlement activities by the Government of Israel, of which the Government of Japan has repeatedly called for retractions as they are in violation of international law, and thus is totally unacceptable. The Government of Japan once again urges the Government of Israel to reverse the above-mentioned decision and fully freeze its settlement activities.

"Israel has subsequently annexed East Jerusalem and the Golan Heights, which it occupied in 1967 (Six-Day War), but the right annexation has not been approved by the majority of the international community, including Japan. In addition, the west bank of the Jordan River is under Israeli occupation, and Israeli settlement activities in these areas are considered to be a violation of international law. Japan supports the idea that the border between Israel and the future Palestinian state should be defined through negotiations on the basis of the border of 1967. (Japan's position on peace in the Middle East)" (Under 3. Occupied Territories & Settlements)
"Japan is concerned that the Gaza Strip is still under severe humanitarian conditions. The resolution of the Gaza issue should lead to the resumption of peace talks in the Middle East and the stabilization of the entire Middle East. Establishing effective governance of the Palestinian Authority in Gaza, a sustainable ceasefire agreement, and international cooperation with the international community to put an end to repeated armed clashes and ceasefires between Palestinian militants such as Hamas and Israel. Mechanism is indispensable. We believe that it is important to secure the prevention of the inflow of weapons into the Gaza Strip through these measures and to improve the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip by easing the blockade."
