Yes. Early Boingo is a very subversive package delivered in a celebratory way. Little Girls is a fun song with extremely disturbing lyrics that after a few play throughs only get worse. Private Life, another single I think, takes a few listens before the desperation of what's being portrayed kicks in.
To be perfectly honest, I think the earliest of Boingo also has a bullshit Libertarian flare to it that eventually subsides in later recordings. But who among us haven't flirted with Libertarian views in their early 20s?

I tend to agree. He's retroactively changed his tune (pun intended) about what his perspective was when he wrote the song, but I usually think it's fairly straight forward.

Started as a mix of Ska, Punk, and XTC type New Wave. Ended as a weird mix of NIN and The Beatles. Touched just about every genre in between. If you don't like an album, just go on to the next one. They rarely if ever repeat themselves.
I always thought early (early early) Boingo most aligns with The Selecter in beat and groove. But the XTC influence is really strong as well.
Edited to add: I'll check out those albums.
My suggestion: start chronologically. I'd recommend skipping The Mystic Knights era and just jump into the 1979 EP. Or just pick and choose whatever.
If you ask me it's Good For Your Soul. But GFYS is by far the most esoteric of all their albums so it can be a hard listen (example: Cry of the Vatos, a minor key High Life song with backwards tracked lyrics).
