You don't see, say the couple million (or whatever) he donated via dark money to PACs that push capital-friendly policies. But those of us who face personal issues donating to certain candidates, yeah our personal donation history is there for the world to see.

You can see any amount donated on the FEC website. I had a few small donations to Bernie I checked once and they all showed up there.

That’s exactly it. I don’t include those in my tax forms. (Because I’m way too lazy to keep track of the all the small ones. Which are the only way I make donations. Not flexing, or signaling. I just usually only have a couple extra dollars available at most times.)
No. You can't claim political donations on your taxes. There's a threshold below which individual contributions aren't reported; I believe that threshold is $200 in total donations.
