The last town meeting I went to was to approve the opening of a cannabis dispensary in town

It was supposed to be a simple yes/no vote and take all of fifteen minutes

We were there for three hours before I googled the town charter and pushed for an immediate vote as opposed to keeping the floor open to all the Chuds pretending to not know basic facts to stymie the vote

We won the vote, but just barely

The town does this shit virtually now, but it's a lot of the same damn nonsense every single time

Last meeting prevented us from passing a light pollution ordnance because the precious town veteran's memorial wouldn't be lit 24 by 7

These people are fucking nuts, won't travel out of town for basic supplies because it's "too far and wastes time" but will gladly do this kind of shit

This is the shit that worries me more than literally anything else. People on leftist spaces like this tend to laugh at the right for some reason and say they are impotent but they are much, much better than we are at organizing. We basically can't even organize because we'll all get killed within like five minutes of any serious movement forming, which is honestly why I want to emigrate. I've been watching these and I'm not optimistic this country won't be a conglomerate of ultra libertarian white ethnostates in like two decades. Call me a doomer but I don't see much of a way forward for the left in this country when the average person (with any power*) sees any kind of actual left policy as comparable to the Holocaust

hope you're not planning on moving to most of Eurasia or anywhere in the Anglosphere because at best you'll get a conglomerate of ultra fascist mostly-white ethnostates instead

both my parents are Mexican'ts so worst case scenario I stay chilling selling fruit out of a cart in CDMX because I can get citizenship easily

best case I learn how to speak Chilean (this is a joke) and fuck off to Santiago or somewhere there when they go more socdem/full communism

China and India are white now?

that being said your comment would hold true after the global south gets fully desertified, almost as if there should be a secret global 3rd world invasion pact of some sort for when the climate hits a certain threshold

I feel the same way most of the time. There is hope for the left in other parts of the world, but in the US the "left" is mostly just an online gaggle of dipshits whining about tankies, liberals are too useless to do shit for people or meaningfully challenge the right, and people are generally losing their fucking minds. Still, I feel trapped here. I have no idea where else I would or could actually go.

People on leftist spaces like this tend to laugh at the right for some reason

Especially people with a fucking platform. The general public has to understand that an organized group of chuds (pretty much 40% of this country) is stronger than any liberal group

eh these people are basically adventurists. individuals looking to "fight for the cause" by yelling at a random school board member in their town because they represent the cultural marxist government or whatever. they aren't really organized, at best they can form an angry mob as we saw at the 1/6 DC ChudMarch. the few organized groups like proud boys are all infiltrated by the FBI already.

That, and in addition, 90% of the western "left" is fucking useless: either they're just socdems who want "kinder capital" or "socialism without challenging imperialism", or they're just actively counterrevolutionary petit bourgeois individualists who whine about "authoritarians" and "tankies" and to whom the only good revolutions are the ones that don't exist.

That's not how it works though lol. It doesn't just magically destroy itself and then you get socialism. In Russia, even with an unpopular war, and military support, and so on, it still took massive amounts of organizing and a civil war in which 8 million people died, in order for the country to not end up run by pogrom-committing monarchists, liberals, and foreign governments.

I’m willing to work with socdems, but they’ve shown themselves to be unreliable and too dependent on the system at best and outright imperialist at worst.

Like when they helped get the Nazi party elected over the communists in Germany

there was a :reddit-logo: thread about this with libs arguing over whether it was right to try and stop anti-mask/anti-vaxxers from harassing/threatening school board members, etc. someone said "can't they be ejected/removed or arrested for being disruptive and threatening?"

it's going to be far too late before libs realize what fascism is, let alone how it works. certainly, these people could be arrested for this. hell, cops arrested that public school teacher for drawing attention to how corrupt her school board was by gutting teacher healthcare while giving the superintendent a massive raise and building themselves a fancy new building. legit arrested her while she was giving public comment. they shut shit down all the time.

the problem here is these people are on the cops side. when there are actual mask mandates, cops throw up their hands at the law being somehow "unenforceable" while simultaneously executing unarmed black people who haven't broken any laws. it goes to the heart of why the movement to defund the police needs to happen: heavy handed and unaccountable police forces are a right wing political project. the cops let their allies run wild and burn down our institutions while cracking down on anyone and everyone else that isn't part of the program.

i do not understand what has to happen for these stupid fucking libs to be able to see that the house is on fire and no one else cares about the official rules of the game of checkers they are playing, least of all the pyromaniac right winger they are sitting across from holding the fucking gas can.

Because to be a liberal means caring more about the rules than the ideas.

If they cared about what things meant, they stop being a liberal.

Is why There are so many people moving leftward. They found liberalism doesn’t have the answers.

That's the thing. If they get their way then this shit works and leftists should be doing it. Don't get caught up in the lib civility stuff. Steal the mic at the meeting. Make noise. If you don't then they'll be the only ones and the libs will cave to them.

I think you're being glib. I get your sentiment. Yes, libs will choose chuds over us in the end. But this isn't the end, it's a school board meeting. And you have to have faith that not everyone in that room is as decided on things as you and the chuds are. It's not just you, the lib school board, and the chuds. There are other people there who can actually think and change their mind. They'll never have a chance to if you're socially embarrassed by speaking out of turn at a meeting. Or just laugh at it as as spectacle because you're too irony poisoned to be earnest.

Besides, even by your post that's more of a reason to raise a stink at these meetings.

He resigned Aug. 15 along with two other members, including Dan Raasch, who wondered if his car and windshield would be intact after meetings.

In Vail, Arizona, speakers at a recent meeting took turns blasting school board members over masks, vaccines and discussions of race in schools — even though the board had no plans to act on, or even discuss, any of those topics. “It’s my constitutional right to be as mean as I want to you guys,” one woman said.

“There is starting to be an inherent distrust for school boards, that there’s some notion that we are out to indoctrinate children or to undermine parents or things like that, when we are on the same team,” said Pratt, who has been on the board six years. “We are here to help children.”

I mean there was nothing technically stopping the left from forming a voting block, using it's funding to expand to unserved areas, using its platforms to coordinate and refocusing away from charities to the same community orgs the right built. DSA itself was the one who voted down the people trying to do this, doomers lashed out at people trying do this, told everybody to shut up and stop talking about it. The whole "woe is me every thing is fucked" thing is a deliberate affect the left adopted to pretend like this was a valiant defeat. It's really Pelosi-esque in that way.

Like I'm not sympathetic to it at all anymore because I think the material base of the "left" is really within these liberal institutions and that's the core thing stopping any real mobilization. The right is the one more willing to break with the status quo. In that way the US left doesn't really exist right now. It's probably something that will form as the current profiteering schemes collapse, the material needs remain and something has to be figured out.

:cia: ? I can think of several times when left-leaning people were imagining new ways of creating community and relating to each other. They are frequently, brutally suppressed by the same type of people who would high-five these protesters right here.

Don’t :the-pigs: spend tons of resources surveilling, sabotaging, infiltrating and recuperating left-leaning movements? I think that represents a barrier.
