The Evangelion rebuilds were the Japanese animation industry's most recent attempt at capitalizing on the massive success that was Neon Genesis Evangelion.

The rebuilds consist of 4 movies, which shall be pirated and shown on cytube over the course of the next 4 weeks, one per weekend.

Although rebuild movies 1 and 2 generally stick to the plot of the main series, things drastically diverge in rebuilds 3, and possibly 4. They are quite literally a "rebuild" of Evangelion's story. It probably won't be boring for those who have seen the original Evangelion series because they make sure shit is different enough to add novelty, the animations are also way better compared to the 1995 series imo, benefiting from a larger production value and modern techniques.

So if you haven't seen the Evangelion series yet then this can act as a starting point of entry!

Technically 9pm CST, interesting how despite this the USSR still had a greater variety of time zones than the US (11 vs 6)

Eh, the people standing around animations are better, but the robot fighting animations are drastically worse.

3.0 is definitely better due to 4.0 but still not "good", and it didn't come across as actually being planned. For instance, IIRC the preview at the end of 3.0 is totally different from what actually happens in 4.0.

I havent watched 3.0 or 4.0 yet but I personally like the new style of action animations they use in 1.0 and 2.0, although none of them will probably ever compare to the final fight between Asuka and the military/deep state demon owl mecha.
