Title pretty much explains the sitch, but as someone based in nyc where the vaccine mandates are particularly strong, I have started witnessing my non vaxxed coworkers quitting or threaten to quit if the mandates are held

currently there's a pending court order to make all education employees vaxxed but many people are threatening to quit. the governor (no cuomo) is even talking about bringing in the national guard to accommodate expected health practitioner shortages due to workers not wanted to get the jab.

Of course, on a personal level the mass quitting from the un vaxxed has caused those who are vaxxed to have to pick up major slack at work, increasing the burn-out already being experienced. As a result i've notice my vaxxed coworkers also starting to look around for new work.

Is anyone else experiencing this? I know not every state has a mandate, much more every country even having access to vaccines so I am assuming this to be a nyc / liberal blue state city thing.

I am not an anti-vaxxer and logically understand the need for a mandate (and even agreed with the mandates) but now I am wondering if america is just too stupid to even be scared into taking the vaccine and how this is just gonna accelerate everything even more. i am also concerned by the amount of poor, black, immigrant, marginalized people leaving work with the inability to probably be able to work in their industries again as there are industry wide mandates (like if youre a city worker who quits you cant do anymore city work jobs because for the industry there is no wiggle room on the vax mandates)

Hope this post isn't taken as anti vax sympathic or some crypto fascist shit. I feel incredibly lucky to have been working during this time but now it's been a while doing this, and i was just wondering if other hex bears were feeling all of this too.

Many people threatened to quit but once the mandate started only like 2 people did. They’re all full of shit and won’t lose their careers over it.

Part of IBEW (Electrician union), and while there's no mandate, in my area, most of union electrician work is institutional, and many of the colleges are mandating that you have to be vaccinated to work onsite, and there's a general feeling of "ah, well, we'll let management let the SHEEP go work there, there'll be enough work for us elsewhere". But at the same point, work is still pretty scarce in commercial construction, with a decent amount of workers on the union unemployment (aka the bench), and I've heard anecdotally, that those on the bench who want to work are pretty much entirely unvaccinated.

I guess since they aren't 'fired' AFAIK, its flying under the radar somewhat, but those who are vaccinated are definitely in higher demand.

The fact that this issue is basically divided right down a political line is fantastic. All the reactionary union members and scabs are basically banishing themselves. This is like what the IWW used to do with the salts pretending to be scabs and ratting out actual scabs, but self inflicted lmao.

Organize the remaining workers! This is the perfect time to do it, since you've got all the leverage because they're short the staff that quit, and you know your remaining coworkers aren't psycho chuds

People are largely full of shit and do not have the conviction or resources to quit working permanently. I'm surprised there haven't been more lone wolf chud terrorist attacks. Have there been any stats on soldiers quitting? They're under contract so I'd wonder how they'd quit. Soldiers already have to take a dozen vaccines already (like anthrax) so I wonder how they think of the covid shots.

A lot of the enlisted hate it and are either putting it off till their deadline or planning on getting discharged

Let them leave and also make expired their RN licenses, et al. I have family in the nursing field and they are absolutely ready for draconian measures. They’re tired of it.

Yeah, it seems like nursing schools are about to go full scorched earth. Right now in my area about 1/3 of nurses in school don't want the vax, and the current procedure is 2 tests per day or you aren't allowed in class and if you miss a class because you don't have the tests, you're expelled.

They're also refusing to cover the costs of rapid tests for the students (unless they have a medical condition of course), and are offering the vaccine for free every day at any time.

That's a pretty incredible amount of pressure to get it damn

Lots of people talked big, but none of them have quit. Honestly wish they would just so I wouldn't have to hear them moan anymore

Wait and watch how many military personnel also quit the military because they don't want to get jabbed.

World's largest and most bloated military is going to be defeated by a fucking flu lmaooo
