Edit: This person is pretty young from what I've gathered after some reddit searching, so don't like go whole-hog and be weirdos on reddit trying to troll them or anything. This is mostly about how fucking absurd the modding of that subreddit is

editedit: also Anarchism isn't what I'm dunking here. However, post-left anything is not covered in the sectarian treaty

Postleft anarchist? Does postleft have another meaning? I associate it almost exclusively with terminally online social reactionaries who might use some Marxist language, but I've never seen one identify with anarchism, or even pretend to

post-left doesn't have a good singular definition because its adherents are all over the place. It's been a term for at least 30 years now. The weird online reactionaries are just using the name because I'm pretty sure they were unaware post-left anarchists were a thing.

Their most common feature of post-leftists is they don't really believe in class struggle or abolishing the current conditions. They don't really believe in trying to change anything. They don't even really believe in revolution. They believe a kind of utopian society is possible now by just disentangling from society entirely and forming your own little groups of like minded people. A lot of them think they've somehow unlocked a cheat code for politics that's like "Yo what if you just stopped caring about who the fuckin president is and you stop going to work and just start a garden with some friends?"

It's like if a bunch of people somehow internalized that one right wing argument that you can just be communist on your own plot of land and invent your own new society.

I've seen it from people who are way too into Stirner or Nietzsche and more focused on ""anti-authoritarianism"" than anti-capitalism or anything.

Imagine trying to be "anti-authoritarian" without a mass movement that can confront state violence.

            also known as: "stupid-and-wrong-in-the-face-of-authoritarianism"

also known as: "it's brave to defend your friends and the people you love with nothing but your body, but you won't instruct them in martial arts"

What is weird, people did try this, anarchists fairly explicitly in Europe (and enclaves still exist), but also hippies with communes in usa. How is it post, if it’s an autonomous sort of cell structure from below?

Sounds like the sort of navel-gazing bullshit that seems to have dominated Hippy "leftism" back in the 60s.

Here's a well-known post-left polemic to give an idea of their beliefs https://theanarchistlibrary.org/library/nadia-c-from-crimethinc-your-politics-are-boring-as-fuck

Every time I read this I either think this person is responding to someone incredibly specific or it's just one of the more :jesse-wtf: things I've ever read, because almost none of the things the person is talking about resonate with me

my best guess is they're responding to a very specific leftist student reading group and assuming such a thing comprises the majority of leftism worldwide

"Hey nerds, ever think of actually doing something instead of just reading boring ass books? Ha, leftism destroyed. Gotcha."

It sounds like a screed from someone who got in to politics to meet people in college and can't believe that other people have real convictions beyond going to parties and hanging out with their friends.

The weirdos on Twitter simply share a name with a different group of losers who came before them.
