Hate it when people use "Not plausible/reasonable/realistic" for things that could be easily be done but they just don't wanna

I got called a utopian on Reddit for saying that future development should be oriented toward transit and biking. Like bruh, that’s utopian?

It's much more realistic to be "longtermist" and pretend to know the will of a future omniscient AI yet to come, though.

im pertty sure if we were to ever do space travel for long enough that we need to produce food in space we'd also need to do veganism

I've noticed this about :melon-musk: worshipping bazinga brains: they claim to be forward thinking futurologists yet their fantastical sci-fantasy singularity paradise is basically the Mad Men 50s with superpowers.

They don't want anything to change away from the lazy white boy supremacy and treat-seeking they've come accustomed to.

Same reason they love self-driving cars so much. They know their lifestyle is terrible and unsustainable, but they don’t actually want to see widespread change to the way people live, they just want to feel better about it.

It's cringe and cliched but capitalism really functions like a religion for these people

Paywalled and [...] the overall premise [...] is not even in the realm of plausible.

Dismissing an article you haven't read, nice

You can simplify a "vegan + fish diet" by calling it what it is - a carnist diet
