Hellscape prediction: the elite hawks recognize that Trump is now the only president who can lead america through any new wars. Any democrat would be undermined by the entire republican party the moment anything goes wrong (which absolutely will). The center right might follow Biden to war but they'll cave as soon as the far right starts to challenge them. Any not-Trump republicans will be undermined by the right wing of their own party (assuming they can even get elected).
The better news is that Trump and his base seems genuinely not interested in sending troops abroad. But we've developed a plethora of ways to convince them. When that happens Trump will be normalized as a heroic war president while still in office and american politics will be racheted to the right again.
