    Israeli movies have a whole genre known as “Shoot and Cry” (it rhymes in Hebrew) basically all about how sad warfare makes the aggressor

        Those men were drafted soldiers. That's a fancy word for slaves. They had no choice and many did not want to kill. A neologism entered our language, "fragging" meaning killing your commanding officer.
