"CPFHornet - why can't you respect your family's opinion and not have your own opinion about the bullshit we spew after we literally just parrot the same talking point we heard from another parrot. You clearly have no respect for anyone including your own family, you just want to argue with everyone and always make people feel wrong. You're pushing everyone away from you, it's your own fault! No it's not my responsibility to actually do research on anything that I say, and no it's not shitty of me to just spew it back at you or make you out to be an asshole for having different opinions on this stuff."

Like thanks mom, I know...

Teens arguing with their parents? Parents watching cable news? Americans being republicans? Jesus Christ this story is just too fucking wild. Unbelievable frankly

Hahaha I am a teen at heart apparently - Nah actually late 20's, just moving back in with the parent's for a while after the end of a relationship on the other side of the country... I need to get out ASAP lol

Pretty atrocious for a parent to do 'troubled kid' painting about an adult

Well, I just came back home and told them I think I'm trans after living a fairly CIS presenting life, so I can SOMEWHAT see room for concern, but then again that's just yet another bad first reaction to me being... "me". Life... I will say I have a way-too-strong need to make my parents understand me and agree with me, far too much validation based on their agreement/understanding... I've got work to do lol

Well she got two sentences into another anecdote about COVID. Was reading from an account of a person who's apparently had it twice, and "the second time lost sense of taste and smell for a year, and she thinks it's not a big deal at all - "

I stopped her there since we've had the "COVID is both a Chinese bioweapon and also not a big deal at all, we shouldn't have to do anything since no one knows anything but also we KNOW that the vaccines don't work like they should and..." conversation numerous times and frankly I'm just done having the conversation.

Sorry mom, you know I disagree on COVID, you've known this for two years now, so I'm sorry for being loaded and ready to go when you bring it up...

Of course, she will then likely tell the rest of the family or her friends that I am "a troubled child who is self righteous to levels she just is not capable of handling... oh what a terrible life as a parent to be cast aside by your childddddddd 😭 "

Ooooof. I mean... I did repress my identity from myself until now for some reason... But idk. I feel like any narc tendencies they have are likely just repressed trauma and never dealing with the grief of her parents. My dad had narc parents, so yeah, I guess there's a lot of stuff here...

Oh hey, maybe I should get an interview as I have also had it twice, lost my sense of smell the first time, and do think it's a big deal, even though it wasn't personally destructive to me. That cancels that one out right?

"NoOoOo you can't use anecdote to reply to my anecdote!!! Mine is valid, yours is just trying to argue with me and dismiss what I'm saying!!! NOOOOOOO"

I've heard variations of this too many times to count that when I got halfway through the first sentence I was already annoyed :angry-place:

"See!?!? You don't even let me get through my first two sentences (which mind you, take a full two minutes for them to "act out") before you're already rolling your eyes and judging - you just think you're right about everything don't you? We clearly know nothing, we've made it over fifty years on this earth and you clearly know more..."
