The people who make this argument very rarely care about it being factually accurate. They will use history in so far as it confirms to them that they deserve to have what they currently have, and that the people they don't like don't have what they need. Same as those chud memes from a few years ago that showed Europe 2000 years ago, and it was Rome, and Africa today, with a masaii village in Kenya. Never mind that these examples are extremely cherrypicked, they serve to confirm the preconceived notions of the people who see these and go "yeah, maybe we are in fact the master race".
