      There was a time in US History when saying "Realpolitik" let you get away with the endorsement of every war-criminal, drug lord, and despot on the planet. Hey, listen. Times are tough. Did you see what happened to the price of gas? It's nearly a dollar! The cost of bread? Almost $.10/loaf. We need to live in the real world and make friends where we can find them. Nobody's an angel.

      Now, we literally believe Vladimir Zelenskyy is The Chosen One from a Marvel-HP mash-up fanfic and Vladimir Putin is his supervillain arch-nemesis. Even as we slip into many of the same crises that plagued the US in the 60s and 70s, we literally cannot comprehend of a foreign policy that puts the domestic needs of our own citizens first. And we are flabbergasted by folks all along the climate-change wracked Eastern African coast from giving a shit about how their people will survive.
