Honestly Mario Kart 8 is fine, we don't need another one.
I hate the constant need to make new editions of things just for the sake of being new.
Adding a bunch of new tracks to give MK8's multiplayer a shot in the arm was the perfect choice. Then again if they go whole hog in MK9 and added flying and boat levels ala Diddy Kong I would be game.
Growing up poor is how I got into emulation and retro gaming in the first place.
Found emulators when I was 13 and got to play all the snes games my parents didn't have money for.
Gaming peaked with Pong, it's been downhill from there.
Yeah Mario Kart is really a once per console thing, and that's more to have it on that console than to add anything new.
Like what would they even add to Mario Kart 9? Besides anal ofc.

Every racer from F Zero.
Besides anal ofc.
A new kind of shell that gets stuck on your butt as a forced chastity device (so-called VolShell).
That... would get me interested. Kirby already has Air Ride and Captain Falcon is supposed to be a racer, so they would be make total sense to add to a Mario Kart. Link on a bike will never not be funny. Also, imagine Pikachu in a little Pokeball kart and tell me that shit isn't adorable.
It should just be the entire Smash roster. Bayonetta in mario kart
Honestly yeah. MK8DX is perfectly serviceable. The new track pack is the right move.
The only issue is with the execution, being that the new tracks are from the mobile game, so have a different (and arguably worse) style in both gameplay and graphics.
In any case, when it comes to party games I’d rather have DLC for days than have a new game come out every two years.
Not all the new tracks are from the mobile game! One of the tracks that’s already out is Coconut Mall, which is from the Wii game. MK8 Coconut Mall does look like dogshit tho. I also like the Paris and Tokyo tracks.
More than 30 years later and i still hear the pffff-shooow sound effect from when you mount Yoshi in Super Mario World.
reading that there's a new twist and seeing "anal" afterwards gives me mixed thoughts.
I always though Mario and Luigi had Bert and Ernie thing going on but anal in a Mario game? That should stay off screen.
I heard it once on a Jerry Springer episode where he was interviewing a pair of incestuous sisters like 20 years ago and it's never really left my head.
I'm old enough to have played the original SNES Rainbow Road. This is nothing new.
