    Really? Only a thousand meters in diameter? I would have thought it would be larger.

      Volume being the cube of length will do that. If you had every human lined up foot to head we'd stretch about four times the distance from the Earth to the moon. Similarly, if you had everyone standing side by side along the Earth's equator most people would drown.

        This is a total pedant thing and nobody will ever be confused about this but topologically a sphere is just the shell and a ball is the whole thing. Just like a circle is defined as the locus of points that are equidistant from a center so is a sphere (a filled circle would be a 2d ball lol).

        I wonder how much bigger the sphere would be if we packed it all onto the shell only a 1/16 inch thick (or mm whatever).
