The fissure opened when committee Chairman Bennie G. Thompson (D-Miss.) told reporters after that day’s hearing that the committee would not be making any criminal referrals to the Justice Department of former President Donald J. Trump or anyone else.

Lmao so what’s the fucking point then.

To change the topic of the midterms from the Democrats horrible performance to TRUMP BAD.

They're desperate. This is the only way they have a chance. If the Republicans seize control of the House, they get to be chairmen of all the important committees. Then they have investigative power to go after Biden, and there is a lot of dirt that can be dug.

    Ahahahahhahahahahahahahahhaha

ALL I have seen from lib posters and users on so many sites is specific evidence given, news stories about how it makes the Trumps uncomfortable, and how a 'former president has to be held accountable' (but not like for war crimes, but for being a boorish, rich asshole who commits tax evasion). The amount of them who want to 'hold a former president accountable' don't seem to realize that absolutely none of the powerful people who could become president want that.

While I would deeply enjoy watching libs convict him of something actually worthy of a capital sentence, I also can find this amusing. Maybe it will wake some of them up.

I'm reminded of when Al Cappone was the most infamous gangster in Chicago but they couldn't pin him with anything that stuck (because officials were all extorted, bribed, or complicit in the illegal alcohol trade) so they went with 'tax evasion' lol.

There are three good reasons why the committee would avoid making criminal referrals on Trump or anyone else. First, as Lofgren mentioned, such referrals from Congress have no legal status at DOJ. Most of such referrals from Congress, usually made by committee chairmen, have died on the department’s doorstep.

Then why the fuck would congress ever investigate anyone for anything ever? Literally what is the fucking point of not just the hearings on Jan 6, but any investigative hearings done by congress ever?

    Stupid fucking country.

This is what holding Republicans accountable looks like.

so how does msnbc spin this? do they acknowledge there isn't anything close to the political will to prosecute, and dems want to cut their losses while they can (which i imagine is the truth)? or do they give some line about how trump is clearly guilty and ideally should be tried, but to prosecute the opposition would lead to further unraveling of political norms? any other ways they might spin? surely they can't point fingers at the committee or at the WH right?

Trump is the proverbial fire engine that the libs will never catch. We had Mueller Christmas Carols, two impeachments, and the swift justice from SDNY the second Cheetarino left the office, and now this. Four straight up air balls in a row.
