On the 13th of March in 1979, the People's Revolutionary Government (PRG) was proclaimed in Grenada after the Marxist-Leninist New Jewel Movement overthrew the state in a socialist revolution, with Maurice Bishop serving as Prime Minister.

After coming into power, Bishop stated the goals of the NJM: "We definitely have a stake in seeking the creation of a new international economic order which would assist in ensuring economic justice for the oppressed and exploited peoples of the world, and in ensuring that the resources of the sea are used for the benefit of all the people of the world and not for a tiny minority of profiteers".

The new government developed an ambitious social program, initiating a literacy campaign, expanding education programs, worker protections, and establishing farmers' cooperatives.

During the PRG's reign, unemployment was reduced from 49% to 14%, the ratio of doctors per person increased from 1/4000 to 1/3,000, the infant mortality rate was reduced, and the literacy rate increased from 85% to 90%. In addition, laws guaranteeing equal pay for equal work for women were passed, and mothers were guaranteed three months' maternity leave.

The government suspended the constitution of the previous regime, ruling by decree until a factional conflict broke out, ultimately leading to Maurice Bishop's assassination. President Ronald Reagan launched an invasion of Grenada a few weeks later, on October 25th, 1983.

"We have attempted to show in this Manifesto what is possible. We have demonstrated beyond doubt that there is no reason why we should continue to live in such poverty, misery, suffering, dependence and exploitation...The new society must not only speak of Democracy, but must practise it in all its aspects. We must stress the policy of 'Self-Reliance' and 'Self-Sufficiency' undertaken co-operatively, and reject the easy approaches offered by aid and foreign assistance. We will have to recognise that our most important resource is our people."

Okay, no rule against weirdly overpersonal megathread comments regarding people who aren't even on the bear website. No subtweeting.

So, chat: how cool or uncool is it if someone you're talking to (online) disappears without so much as a word or anything in late December (22nd), and then doesn't say anything in any of your mutual servers or DMs or anything until March (10th) ?

I get it right, she is autistic, among several other things (audhd gang) and has nonsocial periods. I could probably benefit from that too. But I had kind of assumed that she had either quit the internet altogether or been killed irl or something. I know a lot of that is just what I'm thinking, but it burns in my brain as she barrels back into my DMs and starts talking about a WIP draft she's been writing. Oh yeah, I remember that, from fuckin november

As a bonus, this is one of the social links I have where the other person talks literally exclusively about themself. She left me on read when I was talking about my social ability degrading and my general mental health being kind of dogshit. I'm not one to traumadump constantly, and she's extremely prone to talking about herself all the time, so that was like the second time ever that I'd opened up like that. But while she's content to pick the chat back up & carry on about what's going on in her life, her interests, she just ignores what I said before, the "how are you" is a total fucking formality. It's almost like I don't even need to be there, why is she talking to me even? It's weird & I hate it.

...this does at points look like catty bitching to me, but seriously who the fuck ghosts somebody with no notice for three months, and then just comes back to pretend nothing happened? I want your opinion, comrade reading this. Tell me how in-the-right or totally stupid I am, please.

Stop dealing with them if you want to talk to someone who cares about you. I've been in a similar situation and they're not going to change, even if you tell them this and they agree to change about it.

Oh I wasn't even considering telling them about it, lmao. The only person who cares about me is my wife basically =)

Also, holy shit it's March already. I have several people I haven't replied to since late December also.... I should do that. But now I'm even more anxious about that

Please don't let my bitchy rambles cause you anxiety. Everyone else is much less neurotic and weird than I am.

I see, that's what I'm trying to gauge I guess. She just up and started messaging me again about shit we were talking about three months ago, and it's kind of fucking with my brain's perception of time. Feeling unwound and deeply stressed about it. Is it cool if she just walks in and out of my social life at totally random intervals?? How do you usually manage this stuff?

The vibe I'm getting from the low amount of replies is that I am the asshole.
