Honestly, if we were talking about something like a low-cost electric version of the Smart ForTwo or some such, and it was meant as a transitional phase until all of our damn suburban sprawl and car-centric infrastructure is dismantled and replaced with proper public transit and sane urban planning, it's not a terrible idea (aside from questions like "where do we get the lithium for those battery packs," etc.)... But I doubt that's what these chodes have in mind.
