      but because you qualified for pell, it means you get $20k erased.

        That would be pretty cool. Maybe I will not be in debt to the US gov forever, although I always assumed I would eventually be leaving the country at some point

            My partner's current strategy for undergrad loans is to never pay. Does that actually work? Are there any consequences?

              It’s been working for me for a long time.

              It hurts your credit score some. Other than that, no.

              Use every forbearance, etc that you can to keep them from going into default for as long as possible.

        Yeah, oh well, I'm not too stoked about this. Seems more like dangling a carrot and trying to get me to vote. I am happy its going to help some people though.
