          time to become the treat defender: it kinda irks me when games get described as a monolith like this. Like, what do Valorant, Monkey Island, MGS, Spore, Chess, and that Half-Earth Socialism one that got posted on here a while back really have in common? The problem isn't games, it's shit games (I'd argue they're also still art, just shit art that reinforces capital. Plenty of that out there).

          Just had a better way of putting it pop into my head: imagine someone declaring all film to be bunk because they'd only ever bothered to watch Avengers movies, or all books to be worthless because they'd only read Harry Potter. Make this guy in your head, get mad at him, and Understand

                  yeah that's fair, i can definitely see how that might be the case. esp in (what i consider to be) as friendly a space as this is, i think it'd be rather jarring to get hate for what's functionally a difference of opinion on something of ultimately very little importance
