I figured it would be nice to get a thread up for questions and comments that people may think don't deserve their own thread.

  • What are you reading?
  • What did you recently read that was good?
  • What did you recently read that was bad?
  • Do you have recommendations?

I just got done with Walking Dead (I know) and I couldn't help but enjoy the preview of Murder Falcon in the back of an issue. It's a story about a guy who gets the power to summon a giant muscly falcon with the power of playing metal. It's surprisingly heartfelt and bittersweet and it only runs for 8 issues so you can knock it out in a day if you really want to.

I also really like the new Ultimate Spider-Man stuff they're doing. It's nice to see Peter happy but I can't shake the feeling that they're gonna ruin his life very soon. Honestly I'm happy when Marble does anything that isn't the same thing they've been doing for 30 years. Check out Ultimate X-Men as well if you like capeshit type stuff.

TBH I haven't read a new comic in over a year. Mainly because work's been keeping me too busy to read comics on the job. Last comic I read was a very poor adaptation of The King In Yellow. Art was nice, if a little flat, but the scripting stripped the sense of cold mechanical horror out of it, opting instead to focus on its tenuous connection to Cthulhu Mythos. Oh and they chose a completely different shape for The Yellow Sigil. 2/10

I've been meaning to read the Elric collection that came out a couple years back but I'm hesitant. I worry that the art is going to overshadow the story.

The only recommendation I'll make is the same recommendation I always make: READ 2000 AD! It's got Judge Dredd in it if you need something recognizeable to get into a comic. It's also got 3-4 other ongoing stories in it at any given time, and you're bound to find something interesting in one of them. Sub-suggestions (i.e. series from 2000 AD you might want to get into): Absalom, Brink, Brass Sun, Halo Jones
