Do I have to act like a gigachud so they rebel against me? Where did Harris/Buttplug's parents go wrong?

Big cities in the US (assuming that's where you live) have a lot of leftists in them. But your mileage varies. I've met some that were very radical but took their political identity to such an extreme that they became unbearable to be around. I really don't need to hear anti-capitalist screeds when I'm trying to eat a sandwich.

Your points are pretty much spot on and it's what my parents did with me. They continue to live as farmers long after the civil war has ended, spend a lot of time with us and have a great sense of humor that draws people to them. Sometimes their old war friends would come over and it gets treated more as a friendly get-together than the organization they're actually doing.

I think leftists in developed countries sometimes take the politics too close to heart and it seeps into everything else. I don't know exactly why it is, but some leftist Facebook feeds don't look that much different from an angry grandpa to the average person when all you're doing is complaining about the state of the world.

In theory there's nothing wrong. In practice it usually ends up creating bigger problems in the org, drama, etc that takes away from the goals of the party.
