They’re both racist conservatives lol. My brother is even a Reaganite even though he never lived through his presidency. ( I feel like it’s one thing to be a fan of historical figures you’ve never lived under like :lenin-sure: but Reagan is a modern figure lol).
I had a former friend hit me with "Nobody owes you anything in this life!" while they were in the middle of a tirade about how I "wasn't giving [them] the respect and dignity I owed [them]" after I called them out for constantly breaking promises.
This is an incredibly toxic variety of brain worms that had to be wrenched out of me when I was a teenager. We all owe each other respect and dignity as part of living in and benefiting from a society. I'm tired of this kind of extreme individualism being presented as empowerment. We need each other to survive.
Obviously, there are some people who don't deserve respect and dignity, but it takes a real lot to accomplish that. And even then, those people aren't beyond redemption while they're still alive.
