Everything about Kurtzman's presentation seems specifically tailored to piss me off, from the pretentious hipster frames to that smug "I can do whatever I want and destroy whatever I please and I'll keep getting richer" grin.

Remember in the pilot when there were black badges and it was implied the ship was full of larger secrets? It wasn't great, but it was better than what we got instead.

    Yum yum!

They literally had to use time travel to fix S31's big brother AI fuck up that was trying to 'destroy all sentient life in the galaxy'. 'Control' is also very on the nose for the Federation CIA to name their super AI.

I'm curious enough to give the spin-off a shot I guess, but I'll certainly be keeping the ideology glasses handy.

Michelle Yeoh is a great actor, and I'm happy to have more Trek slop to hash out with other leftyish trek nerds. If it turns out to be MCU-level copaganda, that'll at least be some grist for the discourse mill.
