In discussing the NATO moves in Ukraine and elsewhere on Russia's borders, I keep hearing mention of their destruction in Yugoslavia. I don't know much about this and would like to learn more.
Anyone have any good reads, videos, podcasts about NATO involvement in Yugoslavia? thanks in advance
Here is the lecture from parenti: https://youtube.com/watch?v=YZ6QpjPTaG8
There was a doc on YouTube about the destruction of Yugoslavia that I’ve been wanting to watch called “The Weight of Chains”. Still haven’t seen it, but it looks good.
Here’s the trailer: https://youtu.be/6Qi50Mun4RA
Here’s the full movie: https://youtu.be/waEYQ46gH08
Maybe we could watch it on Hextube at some point?
As much as it pains me to appear to take the side of NATO, the Europeans are really to blame here. They had years to put a stop to this war on their own doorstep. They clearly had the power to intervene and declined to do so. Instead, what did they do? Wring their hands and issue strongly worded letters to the combatants. In an infamous incident, EU troops were supposed to protect civilians, and instead of doing their job they had a nice spot of tea with the genocidaires and left the population to be massacred. Naturally, the moment the Americans decided to get involved Europeans started protests overnight.
I haven't really studied the issue deeply myself, but I think the main sticking point was that they broke Yugoslavia apart and destabilized the region, instead of trying to stop the genocide and also preserve Yugoslavia
It could have easily been stopped by US intervention.
But it didn't have any oil, so Bill Clinton allowed millions of humans to die. Go USA!
