Last year, an ex-girlfriend of Gaetz was granted immunity in exchange for her testimony in front of a federal grand jury hearing evidence in the investigation of the congressman, according to a source familiar with the matter. She was viewed as a potential key witness, with information related to the sex trafficking allegations, and a separate obstruction allegation.

"[T]hey have concluded their investigation into Congressman Gaetz and allegations related to sex trafficking and obstruction of justice and they have determined not to bring any charges against him," the attorneys told CBS News

Uhhh...did anyone happen to say why?

(from the CNN article) because of questions over whether central witnesses in the investigation would be perceived as credible before a jury

Oh well of course, better not risk it :agony-deep:

Love how being a victim of a sex crime turns you into "that kind of person," so then your credibility is automatically under suspicion.

You gotta remember that immunity is only granted for damning evidence against someone else. They also only hand it out AFTER they verify that your claims are truthful.

So it's not because the investigation didn't turn up any evidence. Nice, cool. What a neat country we live in.

Why are they allowed to decline anyways? You commit a crime and if you’re rich and powerful, you literally won’t be punished for it. Fucking insane.

Lol, of course he's not getting charged.

    1. dead girl (no)
    2. live boy (no)

I refer you all to the flow chart in the Capitol Hill staff room. Not only would he not get busted for this, it won't preclude him from eventually becoming senator or, should he be inclined, a CNN contributor.
