I love outside of Gary Indiana, and yeah it can be dangerous if you look lost or like you have no purpose for being there, but there's also good working people just trying to eke out the same shit living we all are. I hear my mom and sisters say this kind of shit and it's just like. Sigh

Edit; for some fun examples look on any reddit thread about dangerous trips or some shit and people will constantly talk about how badass they were for driving through Gary or St Louis or some shit.

It's not a warzone mayos.

You can just ask me. There's nuances, Gary is not a warzone like Iraq. If you keep your head on a swivel you will almost certainly experience no problems. I used to cop my dope from there and never once experienced problems aside from maybe a homeless man screaming at me, if something like that is scary to you, you need to get out of the suburban bubble.

Suburbanites love to exaggerate how dangerous the inner cities are, when most of them have never left their high income areas and are just afraid of everything.

Since I was the one who asked the question...

it can be dangerous if you look lost or like you have no purpose for being there

Can you explain what these 2 things mean?

Obviously any area abandoned by capital has a few desperate people, I won't say you can just walk around naked or some shit and act like and idiot. Lack of jobs creates desperate people, but they aren't the majority and as I said suburbanites act like the inner city is some blighted warzone, it's not. There's no gang members out to murder you or shit like that, that's bad for their business because then people wouldn't want to come back (mostly scared suburban mayos) and purchase product. They're trying to run a business not waste time with some random suburbanite

I should have worded it better, just be aware of your surroundings is more apt and less wordy. Copped coke in Gary for years, was never mugged or anything like that ever.

I'm asking this partly because I've been assaulted before, at random, in a "dangerous" neighborhood, carrying no cash or valuables.

I don't judge everything by that experience but "just don't act weird" kinda sounds like you're just fucking luckier than me. Or maybe there's some social dynamic in play that I'm incapable of sensing. Maybe as a neurodivergent person I am marked for this kind of thing.

Sorry that happened to you, and it sounds like you just had some very bad luck, and I'm sorry for that. Usually you will just have the occasional homeless person asking for change or something, or maybe yelling at you for no reason due to untreated mental illness.

Seriously sorry about that man. Nobody deserves to have hands put on them whenever it takes place.

?? Why the fuck should I keep my head on a swivel?

Maybe I don't want to go somewhere where there is a threat of violence requiring constant vigilance?

Also I'm not exaggerating about Gary lol you're posting about how dangerous it is

I'm talking about how it's not that bad and people like you pretend it's some sort of Warzone. Leave your subdivision sometime . Most of the places suburbanites are so scared are because they're full of impoverished black and brown people.

Edit: Also I'm not telling you you have to go visit the city or something. I'm not trying to impose on your autonomy, I'm just saying the danger is exaggerated by suburban whites scared of everything. It's a racist dog whistle mostly
