Moonlight savings time (MST) was an experimental time mechanism similar to Daylight Savings Time (DST) but instead of maximizing day time, maximized night time. (The inverse of DST)

It was implemented for a short time in the Soviet Union (1965-1989) and Rat Republic (1988-1990).

Both countries ended up abandoning it due to the logistical and societal issues it produced.

In the Rat Republic it was pushed forward by the "rodentian" block of the Communist Party of NIMH as a way to "cater to the needs of us rats" (euphemism for "FUCK THE HUMANS!"). It was repelled 2 years later due to issues with time scheduling. Notably, one senator mentioned how "everyone hated the loss of sleep".

In the Soviet Union it was implemented in a wave of policy changes after the "Rodentian Coup". It wasn't repelled until the toppling of the Soviet Union in the "Wars of the Second World".

Yeah yeah, I couldn't ignore the toppling of the Soviet Union. Especially given in this fictional universe theres a ton of sentient rats running around...
