China has put forward a quite general peace proposal, which I imagine is both for Ukraine and also meant to be a general guide for solving conflicts in the future, with 12 points. Unfortunately it has no lobsters, nor dragons of chaos.

These 12 points are, as follows: respect the sovereignty of all countries and all countries are equal; abandon Cold War mentalities; cease hostilities; resume peace talks; resolve humanitarian crises; protect civilians and POWs; keep nuclear power plants safe (what a jab!); reduce strategic risks (that is, nuclear war); facilitate grain exports; stop unilateral sanctions; keep industrial and supply chains stable - the economy is not a weapon; and promote post-conflict reconstruction.

TeleSUR goes into more depth on each point for those interested.

Resources For Understanding The War Beyond The Bulletins

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. I recommend their map more than the channel at this point, as an increasing subscriber count has greatly diminished their quality.

Moon of Alabama, which tends to have good analysis (though also a couple bad takes here and there)

Understanding War and the Saker: neo-conservative sources but their reporting of the war (so far) seems to line up with reality better than most liberal sources. Beware of chuddery.

Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are fairly brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. The Duran, of which he co-hosts, is where the chuddery really begins to spill out.

On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent journalist reporting in the Ukrainian warzones.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

There's an ongoing incident on the border of Bryansk, in Russia. There's confused and conflicting reports but the general situation is that somewhere around 100 Ukrainian saboteurs entered a couple villages and have started shooting Russian people, including quite young children, and blowing up infrastructure. They have taken people hostage inside residential buildings.

edit: More information is coming out. That Ukrainians killed a ten year old child is apparently about as confirmed as we're gonna get for now. The hostage-taking is still unconfirmed. The villages attacked are very small, less than 200 people each, so not very difficult to assault with a 50-100 man team. Whether Ukraine is actually trying to hold the village in some kind of mini-mini-offensive, or if it was a planned terrorist attack in order to try and undermine Russian morale, I don't know yet. I think the latter is more likely to be true, as the recent drone offensive by Ukraine seemed to be mostly aimed to cause panic, and this is very shortly following on from that. I think it will have the exact opposite effect in Russia and only harden resolve against Ukraine, but Ukraine does follow Nazi-Arming Terrorist Organization tactics after all.

Apparently Putin is hosting an emergency meeting of the Security Council soon (though I've heard this kind of rumour before in relation to previous incidents and it hasn't always been true).

edit: Peskov has confirmed my suspicion that there won't be a meeting of the Security Council today, but there will be one tomorrow (unsure if this was already going to happen or not, but I imagine it probably was).

edit: Ukraine is trying to pass off the attack as one carried out by the "Russian Volunteer Corps", which I'm assuming is implying that it was a rebel group that did it and not a Ukrainian group. Yeah, real convincing, dipshits. It's literally a few miles away from the Ukrainian border.

edit: the child/children who were shot at were rushed to hospital and have survived.

Kadyrov: “It is necessary to deal with all the participants in the sortie to the Bryansk region in the most severe way, as harshly and even cruelly as possible. Shoot to kill. To deal not only with them, but also to bring to justice their families, who may live in Russia. Check them thoroughly and carefully. Experience shows that without their cooperation, indulgence and approval, such terrorist acts do not occur."

as we all know, it's a sign that you're totally winning when you have to resort to sending Oskar Dirlevangerski to gun down children in tiny undefended villages

Does make me wonder if the westerner reaction is gonna be "This is good actually, those Russians had it coming to them!" or "Actually this is a false flag attack, those were Russians dressed as Ukrainians killing children" or "This isn't really a massacre, as we all know, you can only call it a massacre if it comes from the Bucha region of Ukraine, otherwise it's just a sparkling mass killing"

70% will say false flag. 30% will say Russian should get a taste of its own medicine. Then as more info comes out 70% will say "all's fair..." and 30% will say "murder all the children in Russia"

The Dirlewanger Brigade, also known as the SS-Sturmbrigade Dirlewanger (1944),[1] or the 36th Waffen Grenadier Division of the SS (German: 36. Waffen-Grenadier-Division der SS), or The Black Hunters (German: Die schwarzen Jäger),[2] was a unit of the Waffen-SS during World War II. The unit, named after its commander Oskar Dirlewanger, consisted of convicted criminals who were not expected to survive their service with the unit. Originally formed in 1940 and first deployed for counter-insurgency duties against the Polish resistance movement, the brigade saw service in anti-partisan actions in German-occupied Eastern Europe.

            :dean-frown:

Only about 700 men of the division survived the war. In June 1945, Dirlewanger was captured by French forces in Germany and died in their custody by 8 June, allegedly beaten to death by Polish soldiers in Altshausen.

In the Bryansk region, several people were taken hostage in a store - RIA Novosti

MOSCOW, March 2 - RIA Novosti. In the Bryansk region, several local residents were taken hostage, a spokesman for emergency services told RIA Novosti. "Preliminarily, several people were captured in a store in the village of Lyubechan," the source said.

The Center for Public Relations of the FSB confirmed that in the Klimovsky district of the Bryansk region "measures are being taken to destroy armed Ukrainian nationalists who have violated the state border." The operation is being carried out jointly with the forces of the Ministry of Defense.

Earlier today, the governor of the region, Oleksandr Bogomaz , said that Ukrainian saboteurs had infiltrated the village of Lubechane . They fired at the car, killing a local resident and wounding a child. In addition, in the village of Sushany, which is also located in the Klimovsky district, a residential building caught fire from a shell dropped from a Ukrainian drone. On February 3, the authorities of the Bryansk region extended the yellow level of terrorist danger until further notice. It implies an enhanced mode of operation of the special services, citizens are advised to be vigilant and assist the security forces.

The Ukrainian people are suffering a massive propaganda machine and a concerted effort to build such a nazi state with a lot of support from outside.

Nobody is looking to destroy Ukraine, not even the Russians themselves. The majority of people are not Nazis, even though the longer this continues more and more people will support become nazis and support it.

But if you need a reality check just look at the steps the Ukrainian army is having to take to find more men to fight. Literally filmed just last week.

In Transcarpathia, another ‘willing’ citizen joins the cannon fodder battalion. ‘Western values’ going strong...

Forced conscription in Odessa continues as well...

These are not men ready and willing to go out there and commit crimes in name of nazism, they are having to abduct people on the street in order to keep going.

The war wont end by doing the same shit they do, even the Russians know this, they go after infraestructure and military stuff, meanwhile Ukraine is still aimlessly bombing Donestk.

It's important to remember that Zelensky campaigned as a peace president with the idea that he was going to stop warring with Donbas. Ordinary Ukrainians voted for him on that promise. It's only after he came into power that he did a full 180 on his stated policies. So that's what you should look towards to figure out what normal Ukrainians wanted pre-invasion.

Carpet bombing a whole country without regard for civilian casualties, even if it is run by nazis is still pretty fashy.

I have nothing against killing nazis and I'm even willing to accept that some non nazis getting killed in the process but if you don't care how many innocents die just to own the nazis the you are just as bad as any nazi.

I didn't say they should carpet bomb civilian centres; they should carpet bomb the nazi field armies.

Just carpet bomb the nazi state tbh

I'm sure Russia would love it if the Nazis weren't hiding behind civilians but they are. There aren't nazi field armies. There are a few nazi squads hiding behind lines of trenches filled with pressganged conscripts with little to no training.

Yes there are lots of nazis in ukraine but they are not the majority they just happen to hold key positions and have backing from the USA. 75% of Ukrainians voted for a president who's only campaign promise was ending the civil war. Unfortunately he was just an actor and the nazis rewrote his character after the first few episodes.

I see red every time a fresh pogrom comes out of Israel but even if 60% of Jewish people are zionists (a guess) that doesn't mean that we should become anti-Semites. You cant blame every individual for the actions of the state even if a majority of the people support the actions of the state.
