It makes sense that people stuck in a place that purposefully deprives them of sensory experiences (and ideas alternative to those presented in the classroom) are more interested in boring lectures and studying.
Seems like a bigger task to change the social and situational basis every student exists within (modern unbound western life) than making school more interesting to students.
