i mean, look what we saw the darkness devil do. we know there are several devils capable of moving things between hell and earth, and i don't think any of them would tell darkness no if it decided it wanted to take a vacation on earth and then come back
it could be the despair devil, but also the way devils work has always been wonky enough i wouldn't be too surprised either way

So that explains how devils get out of hell without being killed, some just choose to leave.
Also falling seems to be both physical and metaphorical, so i guess this is also the despair demon?
