Also Korea is an unhappy ally in the war. Lots of interesting stuff in here.
This stuff isn't new, what's new is that The Hill is saying it

Isn't the only thing everyone always admitted vis a vis Russia is that they have kick-ass air defense because they figured that would be their main problem?
Yes, Russia invested a lot of money into anti-air defenses for sOmE WeiRd ReASon
Back during the Cold War, Russia produced very good air defenses like the Tunguska and the 2K12 Kub. The US basically didn't bother with air defenses because it operated under the assumption that it would always have air superiority. We're seeing how this is coming back to bite them in the ass now that they're in a proxy war with a nation that actually has air power.
Also, Russia have the supply chains to produce more munitions for Russian weapons systems whereas the west is barely able to produce munitions for their own stuff.
This makes sense to my layman mind. Russia still has a lot of old soviet factories and companies operating, Ukraine had some like that jet engine plant China was purchasing from, but a great deal are sold off or closed down. And with the stream of NATO equipment for almost a decade the incentive if probably not as high. Russia can produce Soviet equipment or parts that are compatible with it
Also, Russia can flatten any arms factory in the Ukraine while Ukraine can't touch Russia's military-industrial complex.
