Using my advanced 9th grade biology Latin education, I can tell you that pyro means fire or heat and lysis means to break apart or split. I therefore think this commenter is saying under the right heat conditions the long chains of plastics will break down into smaller, more useful compounds
Toying with the idea of setting up plastic pyrolysis to cut down on microplastics and get fuel from trash.
Sorting everything effectively sounds like the most challenging part.

I've heard that at least PVC and LDPE are either hazardous or trickier or both.
That sounds interesting. I'm not super familiar with it. Do you just melt down certain kinds of plastics?
