You are all hypocrites. I spent time and energy writing out how it is wrong to bully weeaboos and you all mocked me. All you can do is bully people. I thought leftism was about equality and diversity. In reality, all you do is attack white men for liking art from a diverse range of countries. Anime haters will never match the charm and cuteness of Asuna Yuuki or Rei Ayanami so I am unsurprised by your jealousy. Obviously, communists could never create art as cultured and beautiful as the Japanese. Unless this time you can come up with a reasonable response I will consider this a win for me. あなたは私の刃で死ぬでしょう°

    Asuna Yuuki

    Age: 15-17

    Rei Ayanami

    Age: 14

Maybe that's a reason. People don't want to watch endless shows about middle to high schoolers?

Also I just searched Rei Ayanami on Google images and I feel like I'm going to be on a list now. That's probably another reason a lot of people don't watch anime.

I did the same thing with Asuna Yuuki and I got a bunch of pictures of her in a bikini and a Walmart link to a 1/7 scale painted figurine of her in a bikini.. That was one of the first results I got, in the top 6 results on Google images.

    Yeah I'm good thanks.

If you want to know why people complain about weebs, I think these are some of the top reasons.

I'm only disappointed that there's at least like 1 or 2 people still thinking this is real

Fair, but the mark of a good bit is when playing along is natural. When you feel obligated to hedge your bets with a real reply because they might be serious.

That's a hard agree from me. Personally though, this bit hit that threshold for me when OP associated anti-weeb sentiment with Western chauvinism

That's where I went from "good satire, nice job" to, "this is so unhinged that it could be either inspired satire or an actual isolated white dude who only talks to other white dudes."

I know it's a bit, but it's always going to give a sincere response. You never know who is browsing, they might think OP is serious.

I don't know man gardening or even other cartoons don't seem to have problems with this the same way anime does

This seems like a disingenuous take when just about any other hobby outside of child pageants doesn't directly feed into the urges of pedophiles. Anime studios consistently churn out character designs that are highly sexualized children.

Some people just don't want to ever, ever feel even slightly bad about what they consume and will conjure up whatever sophistry is necessary to justify the entire genre of whatever was being consumed.

I actually am an anime enjoyer but I reject and condemn the creepy shit instead of making sophistic claims to justify everything anime. :disgost:

"Every single community everywhere for all time has the exact same percentages of child predators" isn't a very believable or provable claim.

Are you saying stamp collectors are just as likely as weebs to want to creep on children? :what-the-hell:

At least anime creeps don’t get out enough to cause that much actual harm.

        That's also a tall claim.

Just about every active violator has at least some collection of child porn, cartoon or otherwise, in their collections once they're arrested and their stuff is confiscated.

If you want to go to bat for an entire genre instead of just acknowledging that there's a particularly bad side to that genre with a lot of reach (and industrial influence, and much of the industry profiting off of their cravings), you have to selectively ignore that unlike, say, stamp collections, a lot of anime really is designed from the start to cater to pedophiles and/or normalize pedophilia. Not all of it, of course, but enough that ignoring that deliberate pandering is a bad faith defense.

I don’t even watch much anime.

For some reason, in my experience, the most spirited defenses of problematic things tend to be from people that claim they're not even really into whatever's being defended. :fry:

I would watch more anime if there was more to watch that didn't have the qualifier of "this is really good once you get past that part!" or "the pandering to child predators actually has a point and/or is empowering and/or is satire and/or has a deeper message actually." :kombucha-disgust:

Yeah, kind of. Saying "all hobbies do this" with the implication that all hobbies do that to the same extent with the same proportions of people to somehow justify the problematic side of anime counts to me.

but I won’t lie I get low key “orientalism” vibes from westerns who bang the drum extra hard against anime when there’s plenty of shit within western media that deserves equal scorn

Bad things can happen in non-western countries without the criticism of them being instantly lumped in with racism.

I oppose honor killings, FGM, and related chud behavior and I've been told before that it makes me a "white savior" to even mention how horrid such practices are, wherever they happen. I reject those kind of arguments.

before getting your own house in order.

:seen-this-one: :up-yours-woke-moralists: "You can't care about anything or be politically active until your room is perfect, bucko" doesn't hold water for me, either.

I will say, persons I know a bit more familiar with anime than me claim that a lot of the more blatant creeper shit is actually more popular in the west than it is in Japan

Yeah, and for the most part my condemnation was of western creepers consuming that shit, not Japan itself. Japan as a country has its own specific political problems but talking about how some creepy westerners consume the worst versions of such products isn't automatically racism.

Anime is a worldwide phenomenon now. Have you even visited Mexico or South America? You may be surprised to see Goku graffiti.
