Watched the first episode of this and it was literally the worst tv I've ever seen.

Nathan Fillion is borderline geriatric. How the hell is he cast in the lead of a show called "The Rookie"? He should be doing a sequel to Gran Turino.

that's the premise. it's high concept. the pilot introduces him as a contractor in his 50s who intervenes in a robbery to save some peoples' lives. his wife had divorced him years earlier and his kid is grown, so he decides to start over, move across country and go to the police academy for the LAPD because they will take anyone due to some prohibition in age discrimination, with the caveat that he pass the physical test

they try to wash him out, but he succeeds and earns a position as a trainee. the department wants him gone before he "has a heart attack on the job", but he brings his age and experience to the role and proves himself a valuable addition to the force.

it's stupid and worse than slop, but I am a Nathan-head so I watched it. the show starts off as "stupid/childish" and drops off into the realm of "insane/unwatchable" very quickly.

I wish his talents were used elsewhere.

That sounds about like how Castle shook out.

I wish his talents were used elsewhere.

I'm amazed he isn't doing Jim Office's job as Jack Bauer or Chris Jesus's job as Mario
