It is just 1.9 mile of track and 3 stations but it eliminates a transfer for many riders so it will be pretty important. This connection will have 4 lines combine into 2 so we get one lone East/West line and one long North/South line

Personally I'm excited since improve downtown transit makes taking the train from Orange County to downtown LA more feasible
