China has a long history with Cuba, in the 1850-80 hundreds of thousands of Chinese workers went to Cuba to work on the sugar plantations once the slave trade stopped and there werent enough workers to exploit, so they imported them from China and they stayed there afterwards. China also saved Cuba from collapse after the USSR fell and they went into an economic crisis.
