What a weekend! Sorry for the late thread y'all! Double birthday parties this weekend, one of which was ours! Can't believe Kid1 is 4 already... Where does the time go. She had a blast, her little friends are so cute. We have a dope community center in town that does parties on the cheep, it was great.

I never know what to do at parties I'm invited to. This one had a bounce house and Kid1 would not get out of the thing lol. She's a trooper, hanging in even when the bigger kids were in, but I did have to pull her out for a spell because one of the larger kids was boddy checking other kids. He caught me glairing and I told him to chill, but I might as well been speaking qbertese. It didn't last long though, the host works at a daycare and was able to redirect him pretty easy.

But these kids need to know mosh etiquette:

    • Everyone is there to have fun
    • If someone falls pick them up
    • hands to your self
    • its not a fight pit so keep it safe
    • if someone isn't fallowing the above, collectively kick them out.

First time she got knocked down I told her "next time someone does something to you that you font like, you point at them and tell them you don't like it, and be loud."

She took that advice well because I heard her like 5 min later giving someone the business about not playing nice heh.

That's great she was able to stand up for herself. So often groups are all thinking the same thing but need that person to voice it for them. When playing Legos or blocks we like to say things like "I want to knock this down, is that ok?" To make sure we're playing in a way that avoids upsetting a boundary we weren't aware of

I already posted about it in the vegan comm but it was our oldest's birthday this weekend and I made the cake vegan so I could eat it with everyone and we could save money. My mother-in-law proceeded to bitch and moan and groan about it because it was falling apart when she was serving it. This was after I politely said no thanks to her offering to make the cake after I had already bought everything for it.

I think our youngest decided to have covid one week and a stomach thing this last week so we have compounded sicknesses going. It's not great. I'm starting to get a cough and my voice is a bit gravely. Same thing I think my partner has. Might be covid related. Idk We hunkered down for the time the doctor told her we needed to even though they don't quarantine anymore. I was a bit taken aback when I heard that. Can't figure out why the pandemic seems to still be raging. /shrug.

    I'm mentally exhausted.

I've been teaching my 5 year old man cala. He's gotten good enough at it that he saw my last move was going to win and he silently stood up and walked away from the table. I asked him "hey aren't you going to say good game?" And he said "but it WASNT a good game!" Gaming never changes.

We're expecting a new addition to the family soon so pretty excited about that. I think we're ready but there's always new surprises or things I've blocked out from having a newborn in the house.

My girl is almost 3 now, and this year has just been an amazing explosion of new words, and learning how sentences work and all that fun stuff. She's become so sweet, and gentle and loving and she just warms my heart
