Laser pointers are the only toy that motivates them to actually run around but they get kinda stressed about not getting to catch anything, we usually end with some rope/twine/yarn so they can stop searching and just focus on destroying but it doesnt always seem to satisfy them.

Does anyone have a reccomendation for something that can be a bit more engaging for when they're all finished with running around? It'd be cool if it was like a blinking light type thing so they feel like they successfully hunted the laser. Have any of your cats enjoyed toys like that?

What are your pet's favourite toys? (no cat elitism here, tell me about your dogs and rodents, birds, whatever you got!)

I like to hide a treat first and towards the end of the session, lead my cat to the treat. Then she feels accomplished and doesn't want to attack me for letting the red dot leave.

That's a really good idea! I'll look into finding some treats that are healthy enough I won't feel bad about feeding to them and bad enough that these monsters will actually choose to eat it

the little plastic wand with the feathers on the end was always popular with our cats

Those dont survive super long anymore: they would steal it and just bite the feathers off. We've got a fish on a wand that is still usable and ive got a whole big spool of cord that they love to rip and tear which feels a bit better since I'm using it for other things anyways and like 50m was $2

My girlfrienc recently got a butterfly toy for our cat. Shes fuckin vicious towards it, and its got kind of a short string so she sometimes gets me while playing with it. But it certainly fills her killing urge.

Her favorite toy is a lazer pointer that moves along the floor on its own.

Those floor lasers always seemed cool but I worry that these dummies will just sit there looking sad, confused, and constantly searching for the laser to reappeat when it turns off because that's what they do now if I dont redirect them into a different hunt.

The exaggerated wiggles are the best part, they both alternate between those and going absolutely flat
