So I was working at a hardware store when this shit kicked off (got the fuck outta there recently, thank gawd), and yeah, dude, EVERY FUCKING ONE was buying up canning jars like fucking crazy. As well as paint and every other goddamn thing. We had lines out the door for weeks, everyone decided they were fucking Martha Steward or Bob Vila when quarantine hit. Old ladies were fucking pissed as hell, kept telling them there was a shortage and they'd yell at me like I run the fucking Ball jar company, when I pointed out I don't control our suppliers they'd just roll their eyes and make a complaint to the manager.

Honestly my seething hatred for customers only grew after this pandemic. FYI, if you walk into a hardware store, I don't think you have a fucking soul till you leave the place, every motherfucker who came there was a persona non grata in my eyes, if the place blew up I'd weep for my coworkers but smile for all the customers who were consumed by the flames.

Sorry I got some bad memories man.

Lol I maybe went a little crazy having flash backs to a few particularly awful customers.

Obviously we had plenty of awesome folk who’d come in, but yeah the rate of crazy and nasty people really went up during covid to the point I ended up low key resenting anyone who came through our doors, especially if they were getting crap that wasn’t “essential”. Okay if you gotta fix you sink or whatever, but why do I gotta wipe down twenty bags of mulch and then load them all with gloves and long sleeves on for this lady who just got out of chemo so she can start her flower bed? Yes that actually happened.

Yeah I am. Got a job where I don’t have to deal with people directly near family and some former intimate partners who I’m trying to renew things with (though covid makes that hard since one of them is pretty susceptible so we can only really see each other by me getting tested and then hiding in my room till I get results and then going straight to their place after). Living out of a suitcase in some spare property owned by my dad rn but it’s actually kinda chill, they live with my new step mom now and I basically have the place to myself except when they come by for some random item they forgot to take with them when they moved out.
