Just downloaded No Man’s Sky, been looking for a game I can just mindlessly play while listening to leftist media after playing a few dialogue heavy games lately. What are the games y’all like to play while listening to podcasts?

Rocket league or fifa was always perfect for this for me. Just mindlessly trying to score goals for hours. Randomly, last night I was playing Inside with a podcast on, and it worked surprisingly well. I don’t know if I’d consider most puzzle games “podcast friendly” though.

Non-rpg open-world games are usually pretty good, I got a lot of podcast mileage out of Just Cause 3 a few years back.

Extra points for shit that’s on Xbox Gamepass 👀

I love stardew, I’m not sure whether I’m ready to jump back into that addiction, haha

Enter the gungeon and risk of rain are both great for mindless podcast vidya too

Factorio was my go-to for a while, it's like tending a industrialized zen garden that occasionally gets attacked by the bugs from Starship Troopers.

Elite Dangerous is a good one since you're spending a lot of it just space-truckin' from one place to another with naught but the void of space for company.

If you love old-school FPS games STRAFE™ is a cool roguelite spin on boomer-shooters that's light on plot and heavy on fountains of blood and explosions.

I second Elite. I'm on a deep exploration mission to the galactic core. Podcasts keep me company ten thousand light years from Earth.

Warframe. I'll farm some shit or just run survival mode, all the actual thought requirement is outside the missions

You could join the vanilla minecraft server. I also second Stardew Valley, and I have heard Sea of Thieves (Gamepass) is good and open world, but I haven't played it.

Monster Hunter is my go to for this, there's always easy sidequests to do and mats to farm that you don't need a group for, then you get to show off what you got later in the real hunts

Elite Dangerous on VR is the perfect podcast/movie game. Made it through most of Revolutions navigating to Beagle Point.

I like https://tetr.io/ personally. It's the nicest presentation I've ever used, and surprisingly customizable for what it is.

I played all three Dark Souls listening to podcasts and drinking whiskey after work, I don't even try and follow the story and just watch a summary on YouTube later. Its surprisingly relaxing to just grind your way through the game and build muscle memory.
