Otherwise I had an easier time saying I was gonna grow weed before trying to pitch growing shrooms to my gal pal (i do the former but I haven't yet grown shrooms - I want to and she's on board last I checked tho)
Highly recommend growing weed though, it's a great gateway drug to keeping plants, suddenly my apartment is filled with flora that can't even get me high
I suppose those are a couple of good starting points. I'm in NJ so weed should be legal to grow sometime between now and ten years from now, plus I'm a gardener so I have most of the equipment in my basement already.
It's dead simple to get started, check out r/spacebuckets and r/microgrowery for some good resources. If you smoke or have stoner comrades you can try to start with a bag seed, otherwise it's easy enough to covertly order them from the regular internet
